walking in authority

“Behold I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

-Luke 10:19

As disciples of Christ, we must learn to walk in our God given authority. In Luke 10:19, Jesus said we have authority over ALL the power of the enemy. If we have authority over all of the enemy’s power, then he has none over us.

It’s no secret that the devil has occupied territory in this world and taken up residence in people’s lives, but it is only because they allowed him access. The only way our enemy gains authority over us is by us relinquishing it to him.

1 Peter 5:8 tells us to “Be sober, be vigilant, because you adversary, the devil, walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” James 4:7 says, “Submit yourself to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” A close walk with Christ will give you the confidence to assert your God given authority to recognize and overcome all the wiles of the devil.
